ABOUT GREGORY JAMES BLOUNT
After graduating with a degree in film production and a minor in fashion photography from the University of South Carolina, Greg moved to New York City and began working at Peter Glenn Publications. PGP is considered one of the leading entertainment publishing companies for the film, TV, fashion, modeling, and talent industry. After working at the company for four years, Greg purchased the company in 1997. The company is now 67 years old.
After missing his earlier days from working on productions, Greg moved to Florida and produced the So You Want To Be A Model Contest featured on E! News with Ryan Seacrest & ELLEgirl magazine, and later CosmoGIRL magazine. In 2003, while producing the project, Greg discovered Amber Heard, who has gone on to appear in over forty movies, including Aquaman, which was produced by Greg's roommate, Deborah Johnson Snyder, and her husband, Zack Snyder (director of Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Justice League, and 300). During this production, using his industry contacts, Greg created one of MasterCard's first teen debit cards.
Greg continued to produce, meanwhile discovering talent. In 2009, as an independent producer, Greg began hosting music concerts featuring several Disney stars, including Mitchel Musso (from Disney's Hannah Montana), Ryan Newman (from Disney's Zeke & Luther and Sharknado, as well as Nickelodeon's The Thundermans), and other rising Disney stars.
Greg is known for discovering others, including Kira Kosarin (Nickelodeon's The Thundermans), Cade Sutton (Disney's Kirby Buckets), Christopher Cassarino (NBC's New Amsterdam), Rachel Finninger (International Model), Kayden Muller (Disney's Villians of Valley View), and Olivia Osteen (niece of Pastor Joel Osteen) to name a few.
In 2012, Greg received permission from Disney to produce a PSA for the Not-for-Profit Blessings in a Backpack with Disney star Jack Short (ANT Farm) and Olivia Osteen. Blessings in a Backpack provides a backpack of food for children during the 38 weeks of the school year. The PSA was shot at Lakewood Church in Houston. Greg, who is a strong believer in arts education, developed and launched a charter school for the arts that served children from kindergarten through 8th grade.
